Photograph caption dated November 24, 1955 reads, "Douglas Freed, holding picture, and Mrs. Helen Adams Neely, third from left, both direct descendants of John Adams, exhibited a pastel by Charles T. Abercrombie Miller of the former president during the 22nd anniversary celebration of Peyton - Randolph chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Guest speakers were Col. Martin Shakely and WAC Major L. W. Ochoa, at left, and Patricia Moore, Lt. (jg) USN, right. Mrs. John Gilchrest, second from right, is regent of the chapter."
