Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated June 21, 1965 reads, "Sheriff's Deputy Sid Hawksley sits dejectedly in courtroom after loosing his side arm to two escapees this morning at Van Nuys Court Building. The two escapees had managed to slip out of their handcuffs, seize Hawksley's revolver and flee. More than 50 police officers joined the search for the two."
