Buchman headed MRA from 1938 until his death in 1961.The movement had Christian roots, but it grew into an informal, international network of people of all faiths and backgrounds. Based around what it called the "Four Absolutes" (honesty, purity, unselfishness and love), it encouraged its members to be involved in political and social issues. The name of the group was changed to Initiatives of Change in 2001.; The Lobero is California's oldest, continuously operating theatre, originally founded in 1873 and rebuilt in 1924. It is recognized as one of Santa Barbara's architectural jewels and is a State and City landmark. Photograph caption dated April 27, 1955 reads "Musical called miracle. Ole Olsen of the Olsen and Johnson team fame, spoke from the audience at the world premiere of 'The Vanishing Island,' new MRA musical. This is truly a miracle,' he said. 'We have seen unveiled tonight an ideological bomb that will have a great impact on the world." The musical had its world premiere at the Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara.; See images #00142381 through #00142383 for all photos in this series.
