Description
Detailed, close-up view of an appliqué piece of HMong textile. The bottom fabric is a blue color, the top fabric is a red color. The motifs, which have been cut into the red fabric and stitched on top of the blue fabric, depict "cucumber seeds," which create the image of a flower or leaf plant when added in groups in four. White dotted "seeds" have been stitched into the blue outlines of these motifs; white and green "fish scales" are stitched in the open red areas. Handwriting on the mat board to the right beneath the image reads, "1983 / Lewis."
