Photograph caption dated August 4, 1954 reads, "No Age Limit. C. M. Pierce of Burbank, foreground, completes forward roll and "break-fall" maneuver under instruction of Dr. Gregory in private lesson session. Pierce, developer of Pierce slant board used by class in picture one, recently found Judo enjoyable and beneficial, at age 87 after lifetime devoted to principles of easy exercise as way of health."
