Description
Image of a black-and-white head-and-shoulders profile portrait of American actor Rose Eytinge in an oval frame centered against a floral backdrop of colorful roses; the poster includes printed date information for performances beginning on October 22, [1883], at the Grand Opera House in Brooklyn, New York, and presumably advertises the play "The Winter's Tale" by William Shakespeare.
Probable date based on month and day in date text and general show history; Eytinge performed in "The Winter's Tale" at the Grand Opera House in Brooklyn, New York, beginning on October 22, 1883 (Odell, Annals of the New York Stage, Vol. XII, page 365) "Original Lith. H.A. Thomas, 112 Fourth Ave. N.Y."--text, bottom left margin. "Grand Opera House / One Week Only, / Commencing / Monday, Oct. 22 / Matinees Wednesday and Saturday."--text, date stamp, bottom margin.
