Description
This 1945 photograph shows the steamy interior of the American Can Company at 3325 C St. The company, founded in 1926, employed 900 workers during the canning season and 275 over the winter months by 1951. In total, American’s employees represented an aggregate annual payroll of $1 million. Most of American’s production went to the California Packing Company at 1721 C St. and Libby, McNeil and Libby at Alhambra and Stockton boulevards.
