Description
View of Altadena's Christmas Tree Lane (Santa Rosa Avenue), with colored lights on the deodar cedars, which were planted in 1865. The seeds came from the Himalayas, where the "Tree of God" is famed in song and story. The trees are approximately 100 feet tall and have a spread of 40 to 50 feet. The trees were first illuminated in 1920 thanks to the generous donation of the Kiwanis Club of Altadena. The City of Pasadena later supplied the wiring and the bulbs. The San Gabriel Mountains can be seen in the background.
