Marymount College, all female, was founded in 1933 in Los Angeles and later merged with St. Joseph College of Orange, and then with Loyola University to eventually form co-ed Loyola Marymount University in 1973. Marymount College was located at 10643 Sunset Boulevard in Westwood. Marymount High School is at that location today. Marymount California College (Rancho Palos Verdes) split from the original Marymount College (Westwood) in 1968. Photograph caption dated August 1, 1960 reads "Marianne Kiechle of Studio City, left, head of student affairs, and Chris Kern of Sherman Oaks, sophomore class counselor, meet on new Marymount College Campus at Palos Verdes Estate to discuss plans for academic year opening Sept. 12." Marymount California College is located at 30800 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rancho Palos Verdes.
