Photograph caption dated May 15, 1957 reads, "Rotarians Contribute Hospital Needs -- One more item of equipment for the Northridge Hospital was made available to patients when Canoga Park Rotary Club donated $1,500 cardiac defibrillator for use by the medical staff in the non-profit community hospital. At left, above, making presentation is Jim Pierce, club president. Accepting machine, which will be used to restore flagging hearts during critical operations, is Dr. Albert N. Zdenek, vice president of board of directors, for hospital. Looking pleased with the transaction at right is the president-elect, Ed Davis, who takes over the top spot of the Canoga Park Rotarians this month. Rotarians purchased the cardiac from funds they collected as a result of a carnival sponsored by club."
