Description
Scrapbook created by the Exchange Club of San Jose to document Civic Week, May 3-9, 1954. A City of San Jose proclamation dated April 26, 1954, established the occasion to focus public awareness on community problems and to enlist participation in community activities. The week was sponsored by the Exchange Club of San Jose, with the participation of several community organizations to reward Distinguished Citizens for their voluntary community service, arouse interest in better citizenship, focus public attention on community problems and enlist greater public participation in community activities. One of 15 scrapbooks created by the Exchange Club of San Jose documenting the organization's community service projects in the 1950s.
