Rose Joan Blondell, known as Joan Blondell, was an Oscar-nominated actress that appeared in more than 100 movies and television productions throughout her career. A sexy, wisecracking blond, Blondell was noticed by a Hollywood agent while performing on Broadway in 1930 and was placed under contract by Warner Brothers Studios, making her film debut in the same year. During the Great Depression, Blondell was one of the highest paid individuals in the U.S., and by the end of the decade, had made nearly 50 films. She continued to work regularly for the rest of her life and was well received in her later films, which was confirmed by an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress nomination she received in 1951. Blondell died at the age of 73 in Santa Monica on December 25, 1979 of Leukemia, she was interred in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale. Joan Blondell received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contribution to Motion Pictures; it is located at 6309 Hollywood Boulevard.
