Description
1989-1158. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. B, leaf 4. Four trolley tracks lead into the photograph; electric poles march from the foreground into the distance; on the right is a horse-drawn carriage and behind it the Weinstock Lubin & Company building; it is a three storey structure with the bottom floor a covered porch with large round arches opening onto the street; the entrance is a two-storey arch; the second and third floors have decorative friezes on top; across the street is a pharmacy whose structure has a steeple on the corner; a trolley is coming toward the front of the photo on the left Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. At the right-side, or the southeast corner of 4th & Kay street, stood the second store of Weinstock Lubin & Company. This store was opened for business, November 25th, 1891 .... and burned down on the morning of January 31, 1903.
