Photograph caption dated August 20, 1963 reads "Watermelon eaters at Burbank Boulevard School Playground in North Hollywood vie for honors in contest during school's PTA summer program. At left, Deborah Wilcomb literally bites off more than she can chew, while in center photo, Bobby Schuster and Ernest Corfine (pictured) enjoy their work. At right, Bobby digs right into task at hand--or mouth. Below, after Ernest has been declared the winner, remains are left as evidence of the playground's big event of the season. Beginning Monday Burbank Boulevard PTA will finish up the summer season with Carnival week. Other summer playground programs also will be held this week. Hart Street PTA, Canoga Park, will hold playground open house at 1 p.m. Friday, and a 'Fun fair' will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Friday by Riverside Drive PTA in Van Nuys."; See images #00143319 through #00143322 for all photos in this series.
