Description
“The Temples, Chamba.” External view of several stone temple buildings. Chamba is known for its temples, both in the Bharmour area east of the city and the various temples located in the city itself. The temple pictured here is possibly the Lakshmi Narayan temple, which was built in the 10th century. The Chamba mission was established, in 1863, by William Ferguson (1821-1904) as an independent venture, and was an independent princely state and came under British influence in 1848. It now forms part of Himachal Pradesh, India.
