Inside view of St. Anthony Catholic Church, built in 1955 and located at 1901 San Gabriel Blvd in the city of San Gabriel. Photo shows a long stained glass window depicting a large image of St. John. John the Apostle is revered as a saint by most of Christianity. John had a prominent position in the Apostolic body: Only he and Peter were sent into the city to make the preparation for the Last Supper; at the meal itself, his place was next to Jesus; he alone remained near Jesus at the foot of the cross on the Calvary with Mary and the pious women; he took Mary into his care as the last legacy of Jesus; after the resurrection, he and Peter were the first of the disciples to run toward the grave and was the first to believe that Jesus had truly risen. John was accustomed to indicate himself in writing without giving his name, as "the disciple whom Jesus loved". Christian tradition identifies him to be the author of five books of the New Testament, including the Gospel of John. Photo dated: December 23, 2006.
