Photograph of the opening ceremony of the Robert Shoemaker bridge. "Bridge dedication -- Mrs. Roberta Shoemaker puts the shears to ribbon opening Robert Shoemaker bridge, named for her late husband. Models Patti Caraco (left) and Jackie Carter release hundreds of balloons heralding new entry into downtown Long Beach freeway. (Story, Page 2.)" -- Examiner clipping attached to verso, dated, "April 2, 1959".
