Description
Cottage where Dean and Mrs. Norton lived on the Pomona Campus (1891-1893). Caption later added by librarian: "Sent by Mrs. E.C. Norton to her mother in New Haven, Conn. Dean and Mrs. N. lived there probably about 1891-3. There he started the first attempt at a lawn in Claremont. The small girl on the steps was forbidden to walk across except 'once a day'. This house still stands. Dec. 1952--just west of the new Baxter Medical Building." Labeled by Mrs. Norton, "Our little brown cottage at Claremont; six rooms on one floor." It is used for campus housing (1891-1893).
