Description
Photograph article dated November 29, 1963, partially reads, "With both teams as high as Tuesday's stock market, Birmingham and Van Nuys high schools trot out their grid juggernauts Saturday afternoon in the first round game of the 1963 Los Angeles city high school football playoffs. It took three weeks for these two champions to finally get together for their 1:30 o'clock kickoff tomorrow at Valley College. Gates will open at 12 noon to accommodate the standing room crowd that may hit 9,000." Photograph caption reads, "Birmingham's Ron Heiman faces Van Nuys High - Powerful tackle is part of Braves' rockribbed defensive unit."
