Description: This was Sierra Highway in Palmdale in 1918, showing the Palmdale Inn. A group of German and Swiss settlers arrived there in 1884 and founded a village they called Palmenthal. This became Palmdale in 1899. The photo compares to 00049862, taken in 1955.
