Description
Portrait of a Hopi girl called Little Blue Butterfly.
Signed on mount: "© Frederick Monsen." Title supplied by cataloger. Monsen's caption refers to 1908, but it was taken earlier; this photograph published in series Monsen wrote for The Craftsman, May 1907. Monsen's typed label on back says: "Hopi Indians. Arizona. This charming little girl was the life and joy of our sojourn in Hopiland during the summer of 1908. She rejoiced in the beautiful name of Little Blue Butterfly, a nature name most appropriate to such a delightful child."
