Photograph caption dated March 13, 1981 reads, "Officers forced mountain climbing buff Scott Luther, 18, to come down from his precarious perch underneath the Ventura Freeway, 60 feet above the Los Angeles River near Griffith Park today because curious motorists were pausing to stare, snarling freeway traffic below. Luther, 18, of Glendale was practicing, said California Highway Patrol Officer Don Rollins, and had spent last night in a sleeping bag suspended underneath the freeway, by attaching his equipment to a seam in the underpass. His "climb" would have taken two days."
