Description
With 1968 postcard provides an artist’s illustration of “Teen Island," a feature of the California State Fair. This proposed 5-acre temporary island, built in an artificial lake and made from the American River’s north bank, was designed to provide teen-oriented attractions, including a dance pavilion, artificial beaches, and specialty food stands. Citing costs, the island proposal was cancelled.
