Description
Photograph of Virginia City, Nevada, showing Mount Davidson in the background, ca.1930. There is an empty ridge in the foreground, occupied solely by a man at right and a utility pole at left. The town is farther in the distance and is composed of a collection of rectangular wooden buildings and a handful of trees at right. The treeless mass of Mount Davidson looms over the town in the distance. Photoprint reads: "The famous mining town of the Comstock Lode.Mt. Davidson in the back (alt. 7827). There is said to be about 600 miles of tunnel and shafts under the town and mountain".
