After it was reconstructed, the building was renamed the Venice Beach Art Lofts. A man sits on the steps of the entrance to the Fenmar apartment building reading a book. A red bicycle mocks a street sign which reads, "Tow-Away. NO parking any time" - the bike has been locked onto the sign. The Fenmar was built in 1921 and remodeled in 1938. The original design was changed with the addition of an elevator and extra walls. On March 17, 2003, Saint Patrick's Day, a fire burnt down the interior, leaving the foundation and all four exterior brick walls in place. The fire enabled the owners to recapture the original spirit of the Fenmar, with 17 ft ceilings in the lobby. The building is currently under construction with plans to move tenants back in the fall of 2005. Photograph dated November 20, 2002.
