Description
Note: "Rebeka, Maria u. Rahel.
(Wuhrmann, A., 1917. Beschreibung zu den Lichtbildern aus Bamum. E-30-0,6).
Note translation: "Rebecca, Maria and Rachel, 3 [former] schoolgirls who have married and are now teachers' wives. Among the pupils of the girls' school in Fumban there are some who, after they have left school, marry christian teachers. With their families they will not form the kernal of the christian congregation. They have the task of giving the other women of their tribe a good example, and above all bring up their children [properly], something which indigenous mothers sadly do not do. Our christian families are well-blessed with lovely children and live close to the mission station, to be under the influence of the missionaries. (A. Wuhrmann, Commentaries to the slides from Bamum, E-30-0-6. K 359).
