Photograph of an officer reading to sailors and Marines in a ceremony on the deck of a battleship, [s.d.]. The sailors can be seen standing around the perimeter of the ship's fantail, while more sailors and a small detachment of Marines can be seen in the foreground at left, facing the stern. Three massive gun barrels can be seen at right, protruding from a large turret, and a man can be seen on top of the turret. The deck of the ship is made of wood.
