Description
Photograph of the exterior view of the Los Angeles City Hall building, taken from Nadeau Hotel, 1928. The monstrous building, about thirty-stories in height, towers above the other buildings. The center of the building, also the tallest part of the building, is flanked by two smaller sections of about half its size. The lower portion of the building is wider. All three parts create a stacking appearance for the building. The tip of the building angles inward, creating a spire. Several flights of flat but wide stairs lead to the main entrance where visitors are welcomed by large arched corridors. Above the corridors are ornamental decorations celebrating a grand opening. Trees and bushes surround the building serving as a decoration or a garden. Many other buildings surround the city hall building. The only legible sign in on a nearby building which reads: "Bank of Italy, international branch, head office San Francisco, savings, commercial trust, interest paid on term deposits, safe deposit vaults".
