Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Mission San Luis Obispo, ca.1865. Tree foliage visible behind a wall in the foreground obscures the mission's main building to the left and the right. The arched entranceway, however, is visible through the open gate of the wall and the three bells hanging from the building's second story are visible above the wall. The beginning of a cloister can be seen to the left of the wall with the remnants of illegible posters on its wall next to a window. Its roof is covered by terracotta tiles. What appears to be a tall, rough-cut sidewalk can be seen in the foreground. Picture file card reads: "Vischer?". English and Latin text on the front of the main building reads: "Vere hic est homus Dei et [...] / Only One [...]" as well as "Creata MD[CD?]LCXII / Reparata MDCCCLXVII".
