Les Frank, conductor for 9 years, gives farwell party for passengers on his train of the Pacific Electric Santa Ana line, soon to be permanently discontinued. The route of the line diverged from the Long Beach Line at Watts and proceeded in a southeasterly direction straight as an arrow line, serving the towns of Lynwood, Clearwater, Bellflower, Artesia, Cypress, Stanton, and Garden Grove en route. Its terminus was on Fourth Street in the city of Santa Ana. At this time, the route was cut to run only to Bellflower, but in 1958, that segment was permanently terminated. The man, whose back is to the camera, is Fred Sanchez, who has been a passenger on the line for 8 months. Marie Broesel (center) has been a passenger for 6 months. Photo dated: June 30, 1950.
