This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."
Text written under photo: "N.W. Grant Avenue and Post Street. 1879-the frontier of the Tenderloin. Office of 'The Argonaut' [with x by appropriate building]" Text printed on photo: "#820. N.W. cor. Post & Grant Ave. T.E. Heght 430 35th Ave." with "Post St." and "Grant Avenue" written in proper locations. Corner structure with stairs leading up from sidewalk. Other business buildings nearby, including Gray's Music Store at 206 Post, the Argonaut office, Messager cloaks and suits. Tracks of Omnibus Railroad Co. on both streets. Wagon at curb to left, three people on sidewalk beyond.
