Description
Photograph of a plank bridge south of Jacksonville on the road to Coulterville, ca.1930. An automobile can be seen at center on the wooden bridge. The wheels are balanced on two strips of wood planks that lie parallel to the side fences of the bridge. Below these strips, the wood paneling that makes up the bridge runs almost perpendicular to the strips. The bridge leads to a road that can be seen behind the automobile. The road is surrounded by the trees that paint the background. "The under supports consist of untrimmed tree logs which were placed there when the bridge was built in the 1860's".
