Description
Annotation translation: "The white bell-tower of the church in Duala stands out against the tropical sky. This handsome new building, which seats 2,500 people, was put up to replace the one built by Saker 100 years ago. It was dedicated in the presence of about 6,500 people on 30th May 1947. The message to us from Duala says: Yesterday was a day of deep joy and great thankfulness to God for all believers. We could come together as a fellowship and hand over a building for its holy purpose which symbolises everything which the Gospel has brought to our country. It was a moment of great emotion when the 40 indigenous pastors and overseas missionaries who had assembled for the festival ordained 8 new ministers. May what we experienced on that day inspire them to serve their lord in a true spirit of brotherliness and commitment. ('Ans Werk' Apr-Jun 1947)."
