Description
Image of thirteen framed vignettes featuring clothing for women and children; fashion details include voluminous, long bustled skirts with ruffled and gathered detailing and varying overskirts, fitted bodices with adorned sleeves, lace ribbons, and mantles; accessories include reticules, parasols, feathered hats, lace headdress, nosegays, fans, boots, and handkerchiefs; two elaborate interlocking monograms "D.S.M.C." flank the large center panel; reference key for figures numbered 1-18 in margins.
"The Major & Knapp Eng. Mfg. & Lith. Co. 56 Park Place, N.Y."--text, bottom right margin. "Corner Broadway & 14th Street, (Union Square) New York."--text, bottom center margin. "Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1873 by the / "Domestic" Sewing Machine Company, in the Office of the Librarian of Congress at Washington, D.C."--text, bottom left margin.
