Title supplied by cataloger. The 'Pioneer Fountain Group' statue, also known as the Daniel O. McCarthy Pioneer Fountain, or the Miner's Statue, honors the memory of the California Pioneers of '49'.; Architect Archibald Gibbs designed the 1926 Carthay Circle Theatre, located at 6316 San Vicente Boulevard, in the Spanish Colonial Revival Style with Streamline Moderne influences. Fox-West Coast Theatres took over operation of the theatre in 1929. The theater was home to many premieres before it closed in 1969. It was demolished in the early 1970s. Looking south from McCarthy Vista towards Henry Lion's 'Pioneer Fountain Group' statue; just beyond it, across San Vicente Blvd. is the Carthay Circle Theatre. Photograph dated June 17, 1930.
