Description
Created from an engraved printing block based on a lithographed page in the Historical Atlas of Santa Clara Valley, 1876. Printed notes at bottom: "The scene above shows a typical Santa Clara Valley ranch at the turn of the century. It was the residence of M. Tantau and consisted of 470 acres. Now this area is bounded by Bollinger, Doyle, Miller and Stevens Creek Roads. Today this tract is completely covered with hundreds of subdivision homes and ultra-modern schools." "The scene above was taken from a lithographed page in the Historical Atlas of Santa Clara Valley 1876. The (circa 1900) border vignettes are pen and ink sketches by F. Ralph Rambo 1959. Incidentally, his father, F. H. Rambo purchased 10 acres from this ranch in 1899 and planted it with prune trees. The price was $75 per acre!" Copyright F. R. Rambo 1959.
