Description
"Eingeborener Missionsgehilfe mit Familie. v. Schw. Gysin" ("Native mission assistant with family. [By] S[ister] Gysin"). In the background two thatched buildings. In the foreground the standing family: the man, wearing a colored suit and a peaked cap, is in the center. On his left side his wife and youngest daughter, on the right the eldest child - a son - and the elder daughter.
Editha Katharina Gysin (1899-1953) was a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine. She served from 1929 to 1940 in Rungwe as teacher and was engaged in the work among women.
