Albert B. Paine, The House, Speedwell Farms, Lyndon, Vermont, USA, letter, 1918 August 19, to Hamlin Garland. "So far, our schedule has worked well, with one exception -- when we got to Lake George we found that Huletts Landing (where Joy's friend lived) was about 10 miles up the lake and reachable only by a ferry-boat which had just left, and would not return that day." -- first line.
