Photograph caption dated August 30, 1956 reads, "Saves life, but loses mother - Efforts of Motor Officer Morrie Henkin fail to pacify Lyle Robert Peterson, about 18 months, who escaped death today when his mother, Mrs. Rae Peterson, 28, died of apparent heart attack, smashed car in which they were riding into utility pole in Pacoima crash. Police took Lyle, confused and crying, to Van Nuys station to await arrival of his father, Harold."
