Description
226, 228 East Blithedale Two single storied side-by-side commercial buildings are shown Two single-story commercial buildings are seen, abutting the street, with a street corner on the right. The building on the left has a sign above the large windows saying, " Arnette's Interiors" and appears to have a facing of vertical boards. The larger building on the right is of pinkish stucco. It has two large windows and a recessed entry door in the center. Video Monde is written on the sign over the door. The attached caption from the 1983 Walk into History reads, "#226 East Blithedale. The building was built by Jensen Byrne as a flower ship. It has had several tenants besides the Wislers. It was a coin laundry for 20 years, Vacuums Unlimited and now Video Monde. #228 East Blithedale. The site of Arnette's Interiors was the driveway to the Wisler home (#32 Millwood)> Prior to 1900, RKussell Wi9sler was a railroad machinist in San Francisco. He was working for the San Francisco Labor Council at the time of the earthquake. He purchased the house for $500 and moved to Mill Valley. He operated a printing business with his sons in San Francisco until his death in 1928. Russell, Jr. continued to operate the business for a short time and then sold it as he had a rifle, target and shell business (Western Ammunition) which he preferred. The upholstery and beauty shops were aded to the property in 1947-8. Jack Wisler still owns the property."
