Description
Hotel guests lounge in the lobby of the Chateau Marmont, located at 8221 Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood. This lobby was the meeting spot for Debra Paget and her coffee klatches. The piano in the background near the window was used for rehearsals for part of the "Hair" musical cast in the late 1960s. Silent movie actor John Gilbert was a regular here and Carmen Miranda once remarked that the hotel was "too beautiful for words." The design of the hotel is based on the French royal residence in the Loire Valley, but many elements of Spanish-style architectural are present, as demonstrated here by the appearance of the ceiling and arches. To see another view of the lobby, see image 00068075.
