Plates in: Alfred Fuhrman photograph album, 1928-1935.
Sign in foreground reads: "Hot Magnesia, good for dyspepsia and all stomach and intestinal disorders. Drink freely of this wonderful water". Probably shows a mineral spring in area of The Geysers, Sonoma County.
Alfred Fuhrman was born in Germany, attended the University of Bonn and came to California as a sailor. An active labor agitator in the late 1800's and early 1900's in San Francisco, he was active in the Coast Seamen's Union, organized the Brewers and Maltsters Union of the Pacific Coast, was an early member of the IWA. Took the bar and was active as an attorney beginning around 1893.
