Description
Members of the Shorb and Wilson families, including men, women, children, and dogs, stand in the front lawn and on the porch of the residence on the Lake Vineyard estate owned by B. D. Wilson in San Gabriel (now mainly part of San Marino, California). The individuals are, from left, Ruth Wilson, Mary Stone, Ynez Shorb, Edith Shorb, James De Barth Shorb Jr., Sallie (nanny), Ramona Shorb, James De Barth Shorb Sr., Sue Shorb, Margaret Wilson, Anita Wilson, and B. D. Wilson.
Title transcribed front of photo-mount. Date devised by cataloger based on the history of the photographer: Watkins made two trips to Southern California, in 1877 and 1880, and B. D. Wilson died in 1878. Printed on photo-mount below title: "From Watkins' Yosemite Art Gallery, Portrait and Landscape, 26 Montgomery Street, opp. Lick House Entrance. S.F." Image corresponds with Watkins New Series stereo #4414, titled, "Residence of B.D. Wilsons (sic), Lake Vineyard, San Gabriel." Identifications of individuals based on another copy of image (see photCL 283 (58) in the Huntington Library).
