Description
Photograph of the construction inside of the Power House in Storrie, Plumas County. Donor/Source: Ron Hanford (owned by Glenn Way) GMW 133 06 15. Inside of Power House- Storrie under construction 1927. Audio Tape #12B-482. In this photo the two interior cranes used for moving the generator components are visible. It should be noted again that the steel structure supporting these cranes was the first part of the buildings super structure to be erected, and in fact this structure carries the weight of both the cranes and the building itself. This photo is the reverse view of GMW 131, perhaps taken the same day. (In fact it's my guess that GMW 129, 130, 131, 132, 133 were taken the same day, because of similarities in the phases of construction, and the angle of the shadows. These photos were taken with the kodak camera, not the Brownie, which is another fact that makes me think they were taken on the same date). The person standing behind the wooden ladder is signalling to the crane operator. GMW is fairly certain that he is the boss. The crane he's signalling to is visible in the rear doorway (east). "That crane operator was a real good man on that, he was very careful and very knowledgeable." The person in front of the ladder is probably the inspector. A third person is visible down in the hole, and a fourth under the ladder.
