Description
Large seated Buddha statue, flanked by two smaller ones in the image house in the cave. The statue was made of brick and mortar, covered with plaster, and then painted. Plain robe painted in yellow/gold, with a red samghāti across the left shoulder and hands covered with cloth, but probably in dhyāna mudrā (meditative attitude). Head with siraspata is surrounded by a sculpted and painted makara torana and a kīrtimukha above the head. Figures of the four guardians and lesser celestial beings surround the image on both sides.
