Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated March 4, 1963 partially reads, "Humberto Hernandez was a successful florist in Cuba two years ago with a home, money in the bank and seven men working under him. Today he is living in a rented Van Nuys apartment. He has no bank account. His household furnishings have been donated. He can find no work. But he's happier than he would be in Cuba...There would be no freedom of religion...he'd be living in a country where one million of his fellow Cubans would be detained in prison camps...he left Cuba and arrived in Van Nuys under the sponsorship of St. Cyril Women's Club, Encino." Pictured are Humberto Hernandez and his wife Ena.
