Photograph of a view of San Francisco from Nob Hill after the earthquake and the fire, 1906. The remains of hundreds of buildings are visible, including several large brick structures. The ground in the foreground is littered with rubble, while in the distance, most buildings have been completely destroyed. Several brick chimneys can be seen standing among piles of debris. A hill is visible in the background at left, while a cloud of ash and smoke creates a haze over the city.
