Description
This August 26, 1931, photograph reveals the east side of the Sixteenth Street Public Bean and Grain Cleaner and Warehouse, located at 1501 Spear Avenue. By the 1950s, the building had become part of the California Packing Company's industrial complex that straddled much of the Sixteenth Street corridor. At the time of facility's construction, in 1925, it was thought to be the largest cannery in the world.
