Description
"Br. u. Schw. Giersch vor ihrem Reisezelt." ("Br[other] a[nd] Sis[ter] Giersch in front of their travelling tent."). Missionary Giersch leaning against a rope in front of his tent together with his wife seated on the right. Two beds are standing in the tent. Various equipments are scattered in front of it. In the background: a thatched hut, bushes and Africans.
Ernst Otto Giersch (1878-1946 [1947]) was a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine. He served from 1906 to 1908 in Mbozi (together with his wife Anna Magdalena, née Seiler) and returned home because of illness. From 1927 to 1929 he again served in Mbozi.
