Commercial shop fronts stand to either side, covered with advertisements. Two automobiles are visible along the sidewalk in the extreme right foreground, along with utility poles. Legible signs include: "Gower Service Station", "Economy Gasoline / 6 / .90", "Free [c]rankcase [...] service", "Real Cleaning! Suits 75¢ Suits 40¢ Dresses 95¢", "Real Estate", "[War]ner Bros. Latest 100% All Talking", "[...] Rent [...]" and "Gower St.". Originally, the image was labeled as "View of Sunset Boulevard looking west from Gower Street, Los Angeles, February 1929".
